A Gooner

As you can see from my previous post, I am an Arsenal supporter.

I even have a pirated Arsenal jersey - 40 ringgit from gerai fella outside Bangsar mosque. I think it's Thai-made but very good quality. The design is the first one with the Dreamcast logo but this pirate one has a JVC logo. Very funny one ...

I like this jersey because it is cool during the day and warm at night. Also the colour is still shiny and the dyes are good - colour never ran in the 4-5 years I've had it. Best 40 ringgit jersey ever.

I've been an Arsenal fan for some time now, since Liam Brady and gang wallopped Manchester United 3-2 in that FA Cup Final (what year ah?). That fella got really magic left foot.

I also remember Arsenal wallopping Liverpool (at Anfield some more!) 2-0 to win the league title under George Graham. First time Malaysian TV carried an English league game live.

Waaa .. celebrate like crazy when Michael Thomas put that ball past Grobbelar.

But the Wenger-Arsenal side is probably the best ever. I remember thinking during the Korean-Japan World Cup that the quality of football there was a big disappointment to watch.

Then I realise it was because of watching Arsenal play that year (and also Man Utd - I give chance la). Really good football - can orgasm one ...

Now I hope we can do well this year but our defence is still a bit too young and the midfield is still a bit lightweight. No midfield bouncer to take out the opposing playmakers. Maybe we should buy Gravesen.

But I think Wenger is trying to win the Premiership with a Muhammad Ali approach (float like butterfly, sting like bee) - I think Sir Alex Ferguson is also trying the same thing. Let's see whether it works.

This year the EPL started with some big surprises. I think this is normal after every World Cup. All the star players are tired - after they work hard in the tournament, they have to go back home and work hard on their wives or girlfriends. One month away is a very long time maa, ask anyone ...

The England team maybe got it worst - they have to do both at the same time during the World Cup. I think the Italians lived like monks for one month instead, and won the Cup.

Must be something there ...
