We've ranted and raved; some even offered blood sacrifices (not ours obviously) while others offered to give up shagging privileges. All to little avail in the past.

But last night The Divinity came through and came through with a flourish.

We actually, *gasp! , got 2 penalties - and dubious ones at that.

More to the point, they were awarded by the former top referee of the Premier League. Well, if we deliberately cheated to get those, then at least we bilked the best there is (or was).

So Poll gets 2 assists on my Fantasy Footie team.

Then again Adebayor's immaculate strike was legal, as verified by countless video re-runs - done at the behest of pundeks looking to cry foul - which at best could only come up with ... "it was a very tight decision, John".

Yeah, right. Prolly as tight as Jenna Jameson's ...

Adebayor was in line with two static Spuds at the time the ball was played. That's not offside. End of story.

So if Spuds wants to contest the penalties, we would have won by the odd goal anyway.

But the game was all Arsenal's with Berbetov hardly getting a look-see and Robbie Keane limited to making a nuisance of himself.

Though we didn't create a multitude of chances, at least we closed it up at the back - though there was this penalty claim that I thought there was some basis for.

And El Capitaine was there in the stands, celebrating the win as joyously as if he had scored himself, although he is reportedly in a hissy fit with The Wenger because he was told to rest for the week.

Either he's such a workaholic or the divine Nicole is witholding her favours. Succulent goals for sublime scoring, probably - whichever way you read that.

The Brit tabloids, as usual, are making a real meal out of it - and we're not talking simple furburgers at that.

There's now talk of a rift and speculation of a major rethink on Henry's part plus a rehash of the Barca interest.

Which shows that everyone's salivating at the prospect of the January transfer window though there's no real shopping plans announced by any of the big boys.

Which leads to my final thought - can't a man get into a disagreement with his boss every now and then any more, without everyone speculating on him planning to move out?

Meanwhile, let us all enjoy the view of hardcore Gooners on vacation somewhere, celebrating the win ...
