The Eduardo FAQ-er

Arsenal Sign Croatian Record-Breaker Eduardo

Eduardo who ... !!!???

... da Silva.

It's Eduardo Alves da Silva, yer ignorant Goon.

OK - who's he then?
Well, he's the Godfather's latest signing, innit?

How do we know it's for real?
Arsenal.com reported it, so it is confirmed and completed - it's not like some Scouser deal that plays out like a Latin soap opera.

Who's he's been playing for?
Dinamo Zagreb - that's in Croatia, mind.

Ooooh, like that git Suker then?
Well yeah, except that he wasn't born a Croatian - he's a Brazilian.

Er ... how's that again?
He was born in Bango, Brazil. He came over when he was 15. But he only became Croatian in 2003.

How come that happened?
That's cos they wanted him in their U-21 squad, innit. He's an idol in Croatia, not that it means much but apparently he's much better than Malouda on the left side.

How good is he, we don't want another Shite-tista?
Well, he scored against us when we thwacked them 5-1 at the Emirates in the CL. And he was Croatian Player of the Year in 2003 and again in 2006.

He was in the Croatian U-21 and now he's a full international.

Does he score goals then?
Well he was on loan to a 2nd division club, scored 10 in 15 games. Then his first season with Dinamo's first team he scored 9 in 24 games.

Last season he scored 34 in 32 games, breaking the 13-year old goalscoring record in the league. He topped that with a hattrick in the final match of the season, a local derby against Hajduk Split.

That brings his total to 73 goals in 104 games for Dinamo Zagreb. Not bad at all.

But the Croatian's League probably shite anyways ...?
He should be very good - in internationals, he's got 8 in 12 games for the U-21 and for the Croatian first eleven, he's got 7 goals in 12 games.

His first international competitive goal was against England in the 2006 Euro qualifiers.

At least he knows how to hit the target - and we need someone like that.

Here's his 88th winner against Estonia ...

and here's something someone's compiled. Maybe Arsene watched this one.

Hmmm ... looks good ... what do his friends call him?
They call him Dudu ... and he wants it on his jersey - he doesn't like "da Silva" because it's his mum's maiden name, not his.

Cor ... so wot does he look like then?
Look for yourself (below, centre).

What do you think of him?
Well, he's done well in Croatia - and done well consistently.

He's fast, has a great first touch, good dribbling skills and can jump and head too.

And more importantly, he's not really good-looking, if you know what I mean.

So he's not likely to be a show-pony like that little Pink Devil.

And anyone who's as good-looking as Martin Keown has gotta be really good.

Anyway - Arsene knows.

babe,

Dudu is a, er do-er. Hope he won't be a doo-doo like Lils is singing.

Lils,

A dodo is a dead bird, whereas Dudu - in an Indon pecah rumah way - can prolly revive birds that are playing dead.

Leen,

Hmmm ... kantol lagi ... how was your show?

El Fuser,

Yeah ... I hope you're right that he's a good buy and not a good-bye.

El Sicko,

We only buy hitmen from outside. Thugs, maulers, shin-biters etc we obtain in-house.

We're the Borstal Boys now, innit?

We also bought a 19-year old RB Nordviet or something and we're now chasing Bakari Sagna. Supposedly.

I just wonder wot Rafa is planning to do with Babel - he's too young for goateed Spanish pimps.

Cultured French paedophilic voyeurs, now that's a different story ... :P

eh u guys gave up on babel? janganlah macho, sell to the americansla.

Rafa chasing him like mad. The Arse is like that not-rich boy next door.

We woo with what we can help them become, rather than tempt with what we can pay for.

... or rather, we're more philosophical than the richer clubs.

:P

Sell out? I'd rather we have less (though still quite a lot actually) with the owners holding shares that are already paid-up for.

If Kroenke takes over today, he would have to borrow to pay off the previous owners and a part of whatever the club earns in the future goes to paying off that debt.

Which will prolly translate to less money available to buy.
